›Is the word search generator free?
Yes. Generating, printing and downloading the PDF with its answer key are free, and you don’t need an account.
›How do I generate a word search?
Pick a theme, or choose "My own words…" and type your list. Choose a difficulty and grid size. The puzzle appears straight away; press Print or Download PDF. "Generate new puzzle" shuffles the words and the layout.
›Can words go diagonally or backwards?
Yes. Easy puzzles run words across and down only. Medium adds diagonals, and hard adds backwards words in all eight directions. You can also switch diagonal and backwards words on or off yourself.
›Does it make an answer key?
Yes. With "Answer key" ticked, printing or downloading adds a second page with every word highlighted. "Show answers" highlights them on screen too.
›How many words can I use?
A theme puzzle uses 10 words on the small grid, 15 on the medium grid and 22 on the large grid. With your own words, any word that doesn’t fit is listed above the puzzle, so you can pick a bigger grid.
