How to play Black History Month bingo
- Give each player a card and something to mark squares with.
- The caller reads words from the caller's list in any order, ticking each one off.
- Players mark a word when it's called. The middle square is free.
- The first to complete a row, column or diagonal shouts "Bingo!" and the caller checks the card.
Before you call a word, give a clue or a fact about it and let players guess. It turns a game of luck into a quick review.
Good to know
- Historian Carter G. Woodson launched Negro History Week in February 1926, choosing the week that included the birthdays of Abraham Lincoln (Feb. 12) and Frederick Douglass (Feb. 14).
- President Gerald Ford officially recognized Black History Month in 1976, and it has been observed nationally every February since.
