ESL Bingo Cards

How to play ESL bingo

1. Give each player a card and something to mark squares with.
2. The caller reads words from the caller's list in any order, ticking each one off.
3. Players mark a word when it's called. The middle square is free.
4. The first to complete a row, column or diagonal shouts "Bingo!" and the caller checks the card.

Call a word, have students find it and read it aloud before they mark it. For extra practice, give a definition or use the word in a sentence instead of saying it.

Good to know

• Use the found words for speaking practice afterward, such as asking partners to build simple sentences like "I go to the bank."
• Words with silent letters or tricky spellings, like tomorrow and restaurant, are worth extra attention because they do not sound the way they look.
