How to play Valentine's Day bingo
- Give each player a card and something to mark squares with.
- The caller reads words from the caller's list in any order, ticking each one off.
- Players mark a word when it's called. The middle square is free.
- The first to complete a row, column or diagonal shouts "Bingo!" and the caller checks the card.
Print 2 cards to a page to save paper, cut them apart, and use candy, cereal or buttons as markers. The caller’s list on the last page makes calling easy.
Good to know
- The holiday is named for Saint Valentine, an early Christian martyr; its link to romantic love shows up much later, in medieval poetry such as Geoffrey Chaucer's.
- Esther Howland of Worcester, Massachusetts, is often called the Mother of the American Valentine for the lace-trimmed cards she began selling in the late 1840s.

›Are all the cards different?
Yes. Each card holds 24 of the 50 Valentine's Day words in its own layout, with a free space in the middle, so players don’t all win at the same time.
